Hungry Gnolls Eat the Rich is a 12-page rules-lite roleplaying game based on John Harper's Lasers and Feelings and Ron Edward's Trollbabes. It's about forces of chaos and community fighting back against an established power that has disenfranchised those values.

In it, players take on the role of a band of hyena-folk who have committed themselves to action. They have forfeited what little comfort and safety they could access in order to fight an unjust system because they are singularly, uncompromisingly, hungry. They see hunger all around them–and there is no greater injustice than hunger to a gnoll.

Hungry Gnolls Eat the Rich is complete and fully playable, with rules for character creation and play, a 1d100 table of random starting gear, and 25 example scenarios. In the future we may consider itchfunding to pay for more professional layout and original art.

I am new to TTRPG. It seems this information is not included on a lot of game descriptions on itch.io. Maybe it’s obvious to most people, but not to me!

  • How many players does this game support? (please clarify if it includes or excludes the GM)
  • What is the average play time?
  • Is there a solo mode or not?

Hi! Haven't had the chance to run it yet but from reading it, here's what I can give as answers :

  • Hungry Gnolls Eat The Rich doesn't recommend a specific number of players, so you can assume that like many ttrpgs it's best suited for one GM and three to four players.
  • It doesn't recommend a specific play time either, but it's not a one-shot system and can be played as a short form campaign.
  • There is no solo mode.

The games is as rule-light as they come, so it's pretty flexible when it comes to number of players and playtime.
